Covering a total area of over 36,000 square meters, the SEW Tianjin Intelligent Assembly Center features an intelligent high-bay warehouse system that serves as the new core of its smart logistics operations. Acting as a logistics spine running through the production floors, this system not only enables intelligent storage, sorting, and distribution of semi-finished and finished products, but also seamlessly connects production, assembly, and packaging processes to drive efficient, synchronized workflows throughout the facility.
The semi-finished product high-bay warehouse adopts a dual-zone design, significantly improving storage density through a multi-aisle automated storage system. With coordinated scheduling between the EMS, RGV systems, and SEW's own AGVs, it ensures seamless material handling across different floors, enabling automatic storage and precise transfer of semi-finished goods. The finished product warehouse optimizes vertical space through a combination of high and low storage positions, utilizing stacker cranes, RGV systems, and conveyors to efficiently complete finished product outbound processes and leftover material retrieval.
The project fully implements SEW's latest MOVI-C® product series and intelligent energy management system. The stacker cranes incorporate contactless power supply and energy recovery technologies, achieving energy savings of over 30%. At the system integration level, the WMS is deeply integrated with the SAP system, enabling real-time inventory synchronization and precise FIFO management, significantly improving order fulfillment efficiency. The MES and AGV dispatch systems are interconnected, enabling end-to-end visualization and traceability of operations, and truly realizing the "goods-to-person" intelligent picking model.
This intelligent high-bay warehouse has successfully addressed two core bottlenecks—storage capacity and operational efficiency—achieving a 2 to 5-fold increase in storage space while reducing labor costs by approximately 30%. It has established a solid logistics foundation for the sustainable development of the Intelligent Assembly Center. SEW states that it will leverage the commissioning of this project as an opportunity to continuously introduce advanced German intelligent manufacturing technologies, promote the localized production of electronic products, and strive to provide leading system solutions for the comprehensive upgrade of China's intelligent equipment manufacturing industry.
